The reviewer commented, "This highly innovative concept is groundbreaking for the onsite inspection business. The Tokyo Technology & Invention Exhibition, which celebrated its 60 th anniversary this year, aspires to promote the popularization and practicality of new products and technologies as well as to encourage creativity and advancement of industries. The exhibits include a wide range of recent technological inventions - from goods for everyday life to industrial machines. The exhibition is open to the general public, and awards are given to inventions that have particularly excelled above others. The awards this year were given to products voted "Exhibits of the Highest Interest" by attendees.

The Digital "Pocket" Refractometer PAL series was presented with the "Kanto Bureau of Business and Industry Chief Award" at the 2009 Kanto Region Invention Commendation Ceremony.
The award celebrates the most distinguished and promising technologies created in Japan's economic center, the Greater Kanto Region. Since 1926, the award has been given annually by the Japan Institute for Invention and Innovation, to encourage and recognize the inventive spirit of the members of the country's many industries. Among the various technological features of the PAL Series, the ELI technology which enables accurate measurements even outside, was highly acclaimed.

The regular training course "ATAGO TRAINING, September 2009" was held from September 7 to 11. Technicians of service centers from South Africa and India participated for technological advancement.

The " MASTER " hand-held refractometer series was selected by the Tokyo Trial Order Program 2009. This program is sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolis Department of Labor and Industry, Commerce Division of New Business Support to experimentally purchase reputable and cutting-edge products released by local small and mid-size businesses in the last 5 years. Products selected receive marketing support by the Tokyo Metropolis and then are available for consideration for purchase by government agencies.

The regular training course "ATAGO TRAINING, May 2009" was held from May 25 to 29. Technicians of service centers from Korea and Hong Kong participated for technological advancement.

The President of ATAGO CO., LTD, Mr. Hideyuki Amamiya, received recognition for the advanced development of refractometers and was awarded in the Technology Category. The Commendation for Science and Technology is awarded to individuals who have excelled in the research and development in the area of technology. It honors the great efforts of awardees, and encourages technologists who are contributing to the future development of Japan as a world leader. Recipients awarded in the Technology Category are those whose contributions in technological development which stimulates the local economy.

The regular training course "ATAGO TRAINING, Feburary 2009" was held from feburary 2 to 6. Technicians of service centers from Chinese participated for technological advancement.
